Prof. Satoshi Tanaka

Professor, Ritsumeikan University

Prof. Satoshi Tanaka earned a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Waseda University in 1987. He is currently a professor at Ritsumeikan University, focusing on computer visualization of complex 3D shapes, including cultural heritage objects and scientific data. He has held prominent leadership roles, including president of the Japan Society for Simulation Technology (JSST), the Asia Simulation Federation (ASIASIM), and vice president of the Visualization Society of Japan. He serves as a cooperative member of the Japan Science Council and chairs a workshop on digital humanities visualization at IEEE PacificVis 2025. Prof. Tanaka has received numerous accolades, including best paper awards at the Asia Simulation Conference (2012, 2022) and the Journal of Advanced Simulation (2014).
