Request for Site Update
To request a change to the SimAust Website, send an email SimAustWebTeam@SimAust.com with:
- The type of request (see below)
- All the required information for that type of request (see below)
Publish a News Item
Creates a new “tile” under the News page which can be clicked for more detail.
Website path: Global Nav News

- Short Title – Short headline to appear on the tile
- Image – A file (840 x 450 px .png or .jpg recommended)
- Content – The content to display on the detail page. Recommended to include:
- Long Title – The full headline of the news item
- Description – The full text of the news item.
- Review required? – If the Requestor wishes to see a preview of the content prior to the event going live on the site. NOTE: This will significantly delay the publication of the event.
Publish an Event (incl. SimCafe items)
Creates a new “tile” under the Events page and can be clicked for more detail. The tile can be scheduled to automatically appear/be hidden by calendar dates.
Website path: Global Nav –> Events

- Short Title – Title to appear on the tile
- Start/End Dates – When the event tile will appear/disappear
- Event Type – One of “Affiliates” “ASC” “SimCafe 2.0”
- Image – A file (840 x 450 px .png or .jpg recommended)
- Content Type – This determines what will happen when a user clicks on the tile:
- “Content” – Clicking the item will display another page showing the content in provided in “Description”
- “Redirect” – Clicking the tile will immediately redirect the user to the URL specifed in “Redirect URL”
- Redirect URL (if applicable)
- Content (if applicable) – The content to display on the page for the event. Recommended to include:
- Long Title – The full title of the event to display on its page
- Description – A description of the event.
- Link URL – A URL linking to more information
- Review required? – If the Requestor wishes to see a preview of the content prior to the event going live on the site. NOTE: This will significantly delay the publication of the event.
Create a Page and assign to a Page Contributor
Creates a new page or pages that will be managed by a Page Contributor outside of the Web Team. The page can optionally be linked from the site Global Nav, although this requires a more lengthy approval process.
Website path: Varies depending on request.

- Confirmation that a new page is needed. The page
- …WILL be owned and managed by an existing or new Page Contributor
- …WILL provide significant content and value to SimAust members, affiliates, or the SimAust mission
- …WILL NOT conflict or be redundant with existing SimAust site content
- …WILL NOT be better served as an Event (time-limited, published under “Events”)
- …WILL NOT be better served as a News item (published under “News”
- Ownership – Determines ownership of the page. One of:
- “Existing” – The new page will be created under a PARENT PAGE currently owned by an existing Page Contributor, and will be owned by that Page Contributor.
- “New” – The new page will be created in an area of the website currently maintained by the Web Team, and a new Page Contributor will be assigned. NOTE: This requires Web Team review.
- Parent – The PARENT PAGE under which the new page is to be located. Affects layout in the page administration view, and who has access to see (but not edit) the page.
- Contributor (only if Ownership is “New”) – The Page Contributor who will manage the page content. Affects who may actually edit the page.
- Navigation – Determines if a link to the new page should appear in the Global Nav menu.
- “Solo” – The page will NOT be reachable via the Global Nav and will instead be reached via an existing page or external link.
- “Global” – A new link must be created in the site Global Nav. NOTE: This requires Web Team review.
- Global Nav (only if Navigation is “Global”) – Path, title, and position of new Global Nav item
- Path – The Global Nav menu under which the new link should go, e.g. “Specialty Groups”
- Title – 25 character maximum. The exact title of the new item to be added to the Global Nav Path.
- Position – Where in the existing dropdown the new item should go, e.g. “between Healthcare and Defence”
- Source – Determines the layout and initial content of the new page:
- “Default” – The default WP page template. Blank content.
- “Template” – A page based on an existing WP page template. Blank content.
- “Clone” – A page based on an existing SimAust page, and will contain a copy of the existing page.
- Source URL (only for “Template” and “Clone” sources) – The URL of page to base the new page on.
- Title – The title of the page
- URL – The final portion of the page URL (e.g. “/seriousgames”)

Create a new Page Contributor user

- Confirmation that Page Contributor will be responsible for created page content:
- The Page Contributor (not a delegate or proxy) will be the person performing the page edits
- The login and password for the Page Contributor will not be shared
- The Page Contributor accepts responsibility for the publication of the page content published under their login including any future child pages.
